About
Yasmin Sewell is an Australian fashion retail consultant[2][3] and creative advisor[4] for various fashion brands as well as a trend forecaster. [5] She is currently based in London, where she moved at the age of 20 from her hometown of Sydney, Australia with her husband, actor Rufus Sewell[6].[7] She has since remarried.[8]
At the age of 15 Yasmin began working for an estate agency McGrath Partners, where she spent three years as a PA.[9]
She started her consultancy in 2008 (her clients include Liberty, Browns and Courtney Love[10])[11][12][13], after owning Soho boutique Yasmin Cho[14], which she set up in 1999 at the age of 22[15]. Yasmin launched designers such as Rick Owens at her boutique. At 24 Sewell closed the boutique and returned to Sydney where she worked as a stylist and a personal shopper for celebrities. [16]
Sewell was also the head buyer for Browns' boutiques for three years.[17]
Yasmin's love of fashion began in 1983 when she watched as her mother make a taffeta ball gown with her Singer sewing machine. [18] It was in her teen years, while working at the estate agency she realized she wanted to work in the fashion industry.[19]
Yasmin Sewell was named Young Australian of the year in 2012, for her contribution to fashion.[20]
