Since Valerie Tolosa launched her eponymous label at MercedesAustralian Fashion Week label in 2002, her collections have gone fromstrength to strength. Receiving a scholarship at the KvB Institute ofdesign in 1998, Valerie excelled in arts from an early age. Her love ofvintage fashion stems from her Grandmother, a tailor, who taughtValerie to sew and pattern make.

Her collections combine feminine, vintage aesthetic with Valerie’sown modern style. It is old world elegance, with a new edge andindividuality.

Growing media interest coupled with the label’s increasingpopularity, has meant long waiting lists for Valerie Tolosa’s glamorousfrocks before they have even hit stores. With Miranda Kerr, ParisHilton, Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie, Fergie all keen to wear ValerieTolosa designs, the label has its fair share of high profile fans.

Featuring in just about every glossy magazine on the stands inAustralia, the response to the media attention speaks volumes. InSummer 2006, Valerie Tolosa’s celebrated Ashley Frill Dress received afull-page editorial, which resulted in hundreds of calls to stockistsnationally.

Since showing at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week in 2007, ValerieTolosa demonstrated her ability to stand out from the pack. Girly butgrown up, Valerie has since diversified her range to include must-haveeveryday dresses and separates, complimenting her glamorous silkprinted dresses. This season saw the use of classic blacks and creamsin silk linens, chiffons and lace, as well as her own vintage inspiredfloral silks and knits.

Now stocked in over 50 boutiques nationally, 40 internationally anda flagship store in Paddington, Sydney Valerie Tolosa has already welland truly made her mark in Australian fashion. With her own diffusionline on the horizon, we should expect to see much more from this younglabel very soon.
