Oscar de la Renta is a Dominican American fashion designer. At the age of 18, he left the Dominican Republic to study in Spain, where he quickly became interested in world of fashion design and began sketching for leading Spanish fashion houses. De la Renta was trained by Cristobal Balenciaga and Antonio Castillo, and became internationally known in the 1960's as one of the designers to dress Jacqueline Kennedy. De la Renta's fashion house continues to dress celebrities and royalty alike. He is especially known for his red carpet gowns and evening wear.
