The Mrs. Press label began in 2007 when Vogue's features director Clare Press created a collection of one-off, reworked vintage pieces, for Marnie Skillings' Sydney boutique . Press launched her first ready-to-wear range for S/S 2008 focusing on silk slips and layering pieces. She soon shifted her focus to party dresses, made in Australia using luxury fabrics and vintage techniques. Mrs Press appeared in all the major glossies, became a Sydney It-girl staple, and showed at Australian fashion week. The label was stocked throughout Australia, and online. In 2010 Mrs Press opened a flagship store on Oxford Street, Paddington, Sydney, and launched the Mrs. Press dressing table range of bodycare products in 17 David Jones stores nationally. In 2013 Press put her label on hold to return to magazines, citing increasingly difficult retail conditions for independent labels. She now works for Sunday Style.
