Marc by Marc Jacobs is the younger line created by Marc Jacobs (designer) in 2000.[1] The brand encapsulates the earlier college-appropriate designs from the Marc Jacobs brand, it was launched during the Spring 2001 collections.[2]. The intention of this line for Marc Jacobs was to make make inexpensive fashion available.[3]

Pina Ferlisi was hired as the brand's creative director in 2001.[4] She has since moved to Alexander McQueen's diffusion line McQ.[5][6]
