Badgley Mischka was founded in 1988 by Parsons The New School for Design students, Mark Badgley and James Mischka met and formed a fashion label.[1]

In 1993 the pair sought further funding as their brand grew more successful, since then there designs have graced the covers of Vogue and Women's Wear Daily.[2] The label includes a bridal collection, handbags, footwear, sportswear, lingerie[3] as well as a women's wear collection. Its pieces are stocked in Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Their gowns have been worn by Winona Ryder, Teri Hatcher and by Kristen Davis whilst playing the character Charlotte York in Sex and the City- her gown worn during her second wedding was designed by the duo.[4] The label is well known for their beaded evening wear, which is popular amongst the celebrity set.[5]

They have been hailed by Vogue as one of the "Top 10 American designers".

In 2004 the company was acquired from its parent company Escada, by Iconix brands. [6]
